What lives in our backyard?

A green iguana in my back yard
Three weeks ago I moved to San Pedro, Belize with my family. When we got to our house, we looked in the backyard, and there was a giant green iguana sitting by the lake! We also saw push-up lizards, anoles, tree frogs, geckos, wish-willys, and basilisk lizards.

As for birds, there are lots of orioles, night-jars, grackles, herons (great blue and green), cinnamon humming birds, frigate birds, and we even saw two roseate spoonbills.

In the lake, there are tarpon, crocodiles, turtles, and little minnows (and a bunch of other stuff!)

Hoppy Go Lucky the 2nd, a gigantic gulf coast toad

Giant blue land crab munching on our garbage
We also have bats, land crabs, and rats in our yard. And lots of shiny-eyed spiders that look very poisonous! Be back soon for another blog post.
